Kaleorid LP 600mg 600mg

Indication

Prevention and treatment of hypokalaemia (low blood potassium) in patients on diuretics, corticosteroids, or with conditions leading to potassium loss.

Ingredients

• Potassium chloride 600mg (8 mmol potassium per tablet)

Direction

Swallow tablets whole with plenty of fluid (at least half a glass of water). Do not crush or chew. Take with or after food. Dose as directed by physician.

Side effects

• Nausea and vomiting
• Abdominal discomfort
• Diarrhoea
• Rarely: gastrointestinal ulceration with immediate
• release forms

Precautions

• Contraindicated in hyperkalaemia and severe renal impairment.
• Monitor serum potassium levels regularly.
• Avoid concomitant use with potassium
• sparing diuretics or ACE inhibitors without monitoring.
• LP (slow
• release) formulation — must be swallowed whole to prevent local GI irritation.
