Indication
Treatment of a wide range of inflammatory, allergic, and autoimmune conditions including asthma, allergic rhinitis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, inflammatory bowel disease, and adrenocortical insufficiency.
Ingredients
- Prednisolone 5mg
Direction
Adults: Dosage varies by condition. Typical starting dose: 5–60mg daily in single or divided doses, taken orally with food or milk to minimize gastric irritation. Dose should be tapered gradually under physician supervision.
Side effects
- Increased blood glucose
- Weight gain
- Fluid retention
- Insomnia
- Mood changes
- Increased susceptibility to infections
- Osteoporosis and skin thinning with prolonged use
Precautions
- Do not stop taking abruptly
- taper dose gradually to prevent adrenal insufficiency.
- Use with caution in patients with diabetes
- hypertension
- osteoporosis
- peptic ulcer
- or active infections.
- Long
- term use increases risk of immunosuppression
- osteoporosis
- and adrenal suppression.
- Vaccinations with live vaccines should be avoided during treatment.
- Consult a doctor before use during pregnancy.
