Indication

NUMOXYLIN CV 625 (Amoxicillin/Clavulanate 625 mg) is a broad-spectrum antibiotic combination used to treat bacterial infections caused by beta-lactamase-producing organisms, including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, dental infections, and otitis media.

Ingredients

• Amoxicillin 500 mg
• Clavulanic acid 125 mg

Direction

Adults and children over 12 years: One 625 mg tablet three times daily (every 8 hours). Severe infections: consult a doctor. Take at the start of a meal to reduce gastrointestinal side effects. Complete the full prescribed course.

Side effects

• Diarrhoea.
• Nausea and vomiting.
• Abdominal discomfort.
• Skin rash.
• Cholestatic jaundice (rare).
• Anaphylaxis (rare).
• Pseudomembranous colitis (rare).

Precautions

• Do not use in patients with known allergy to penicillins or cephalosporins.
• Serious allergic reactions including anaphylaxis may occur.
• Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment.
• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment — dose adjustment may be needed.
• Take with food to minimise GI upset.
• Complete the full course of treatment.
• Keep out of reach of children.
