Indication

Allergyl 25 mg contains promethazine, a first-generation antihistamine (phenothiazine derivative) used to treat allergic conditions (urticaria, hay fever, allergic rhinitis), nausea and vomiting, motion sickness, and as a sedative/premedication agent.

• Promethazine HCl 25 mg

Direction

Adults: 25 mg at night (sedation/allergy), or 12.5–25 mg 3–4 times daily for allergy. Motion sickness: 25 mg taken 30–60 minutes before travel. Children over 2 years: dose by weight — consult a doctor. Note: the listed dosage of 95 mg may be a packaging quantity — the standard tablet strength is 25 mg.

Side effects

• Drowsiness and sedation (most common).
• Dry mouth.
• Blurred vision.
• Dizziness.
• Urinary retention.
• Constipation.
• Extrapyramidal reactions (rare).
• Photosensitivity.

Precautions

• Causes significant sedation — do not drive

• or perform tasks requiring alertness.
• Do not use in children under 2 years — risk of fatal respiratory depression.
• Avoid concurrent use with alcohol or other CNS depressants.
• Use with caution in patients with respiratory disease
