Indication
Avamys Nasal Spray contains fluticasone furoate, an intranasal corticosteroid used for the treatment of symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis (nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing, itching, and nasal pruritus) in adults and children.
Ingredients
- Fluticasone furoate 27.5 mcg per spray
Direction
Adults and adolescents over 12 years: 2 sprays in each nostril once daily (total daily dose 110 mcg). Children 6–11 years: 1 spray in each nostril once daily. When good control is achieved, dose may be reduced to 1 spray per nostril in adults. Shake the bottle gently before use. Prime before first use.
Side effects
- Epistaxis (nosebleeds) — most common.
- Nasal irritation
- burning
- or stinging.
- Headache.
- Nasal ulceration (rare).
- Nasal septal perforation (very rare
- with prolonged use).
- Systemic corticosteroid effects with prolonged high
- dose use (very rare).
Precautions
- Not for acute relief of nasal congestion — effect develops over several days of use.
- Use with caution in patients with untreated bacterial
- fungal
- or viral nasal infections.
- Prolonged use may rarely cause systemic corticosteroid effects — use minimum effective dose.
- May cause epistaxis (nosebleeds).
- Consult a doctor if symptoms do not improve within 1 week.
- Use with caution in patients with a history of nasal ulcers or nasal surgery.
- Keep out of reach of children.
