Indication
Diaryl contains nifuroxazide, a nitrofuran intestinal antibiotic used for the treatment of acute infectious diarrhoea caused by susceptible bacteria (including E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Salmonella). It acts locally in the GI tract with minimal systemic absorption.
Ingredients
- Nifuroxazide 200 mg
Direction
Adults: 200 mg (1 capsule) four times daily for 5–7 days. Children over 2 years: 200 mg twice daily. Take with or without food. Maintain adequate fluid intake to prevent dehydration.
Side effects
- Nausea (rare).
- GI discomfort (rare).
- Allergic reactions (very rare).
Precautions
- Not effective against viral diarrhoea.
- Ensure adequate fluid and electrolyte replacement
- especially in children.
- Consult a doctor if diarrhoea persists beyond 2 days or is accompanied by high fever or blood in stool.
- Use with caution in patients with glucose
- 6
- phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency.
- Keep out of reach of children.
