Imoryl Loperamide 2mg

Indication

Imoryl Loperamide 2 mg contains loperamide, an opioid receptor agonist antidiarrhoeal used for the symptomatic relief of acute non-specific diarrhoea and to reduce volume of discharge from ileostomies. It slows intestinal motility and reduces fluid loss.

Ingredients

• Loperamide HCl 2 mg

Direction

Adults: Initial dose 4 mg (2 capsules/tablets), then 2 mg after each loose stool. Maximum 16 mg per day. Acute diarrhoea: stop treatment when normal bowel movements resume or after 48 hours if no improvement. Children over 8 years: 2 mg after each loose stool; maximum 6 mg/day. Do not use in children under 6 years.

Side effects

• Constipation.
• Abdominal cramping or discomfort.
• Nausea.
• Dizziness.
• Dry mouth.
• Skin rash (rare).
• Paralytic ileus (rare
• with excessive doses).

Precautions

• Do not use in patients with dysentery (bloody diarrhoea with fever).
• Do not use in patients with acute colitis
• pseudomembranous colitis
• or bowel obstruction.
• Seek medical attention if diarrhoea is not improved within 48 hours.
• Ensure adequate rehydration
• especially in children and the elderly.
• Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment.
• Not for children under 6 years.
• Keep out of reach of children.
