Indication
Zevid D Eye and Ear Drops (Ciprofloxacin + Dexamethasone) is a combination ophthalmic/otic preparation used to treat bacterial infections of the eye (bacterial conjunctivitis) and ear (acute otitis externa, otitis media with tympanostomy tubes) with associated inflammation.
Ingredients
- Ciprofloxacin 0.3% (3 mg/ml)
- Dexamethasone 0.1% (1 mg/ml)
Direction
Eye: 1–2 drops in the affected eye(s) 4 times daily for 5–7 days. Ear: 4 drops into the affected ear twice daily for 7 days. Lie with the affected ear upward for 60 seconds after instillation. Wash hands before use. Warm the drops by holding the bottle in your hand for 1–2 minutes before use.
Side effects
- Transient burning or stinging upon instillation.
- Local irritation.
- Raised intraocular pressure with prolonged ophthalmic corticosteroid use.
- Hypersensitivity reactions (rare).
Precautions
- For ophthalmic or otic use only — do not inject or swallow.
- Do not use if eardrum is perforated (for otic use — unless prescribed by a doctor with tubes).
- Avoid contact with other surfaces with the dropper tip.
- Remove contact lenses before applying eye drops.
- Prolonged use of corticosteroids may cause raised intraocular pressure
- glaucoma
- or cataracts.
- Not for viral or fungal eye/ear infections.
- Keep out of reach of children.
