Itraealth-100 100mg

Indication

Itraealth-100 contains itraconazole, a triazole antifungal agent used for the treatment of systemic and superficial fungal infections including onychomycosis (nail fungal infection), tinea pedis (athlete's foot), tinea corporis (ringworm), tinea versicolor, oropharyngeal and oesophageal candidiasis, vulvovaginal candidiasis, and invasive aspergillosis.

Ingredients

• Itraconazole 100 mg

Direction

Onychomycosis (pulse therapy): 200 mg (2 capsules) twice daily for 1 week per month, for 2 months (fingernails) or 3 months (toenails). Dermatomycoses: 100 mg once daily for 15 days. Oral candidiasis: 100–200 mg once daily for 15 days. Take with food — absorption is significantly improved when taken with a meal.

Side effects

• Nausea and vomiting.
• Abdominal pain.
• Diarrhoea.
• Headache.
• Elevated liver enzymes (hepatotoxicity — rare but serious).
• Skin rash.
• Peripheral oedema.
• Hypokalaemia.
• Congestive heart failure (rare).

Precautions

• Do not use in patients with known hypersensitivity to itraconazole or other azole antifungals.
• Strong CYP3A4 inhibitor — numerous significant drug interactions (statins
• warfarin
• midazolam
• cyclosporine
• etc.).
• Contraindicated with certain drugs (terfenadine
• astemizole
• cisapride
• lovastatin
• simvastatin) — risk of serious cardiac arrhythmias.
• Do not use in patients with ventricular dysfunction or congestive heart failure.
• Monitor liver function in patients on prolonged therapy — hepatotoxicity risk.
• Avoid in pregnancy — teratogenic.
• Absorption reduced with decreased gastric acidity (antacids
• PPIs).
• Keep out of reach of children.
