Indication
TETRA-MS 500 (Tetracycline 500 mg) is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin conditions including acne vulgaris, H. pylori eradication (as part of combination therapy), and infections caused by Chlamydia, Mycoplasma, and Rickettsia species.
Ingredients
- Tetracycline hydrochloride 500 mg
Direction
Adults: 250–500 mg every 6 hours or 500 mg every 12 hours depending on the severity and type of infection. Take on an empty stomach (1 hour before or 2 hours after meals). Do not take with dairy products, antacids, or iron supplements.
Side effects
- Nausea
- vomiting
- diarrhoea
- abdominal discomfort.
- Photosensitivity.
- Tooth discolouration in children.
- Elevated liver enzymes.
- Superinfection with resistant organisms.
Precautions
- Contraindicated in children under 8 years of age (causes permanent tooth discolouration and bone growth inhibition).
- Contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation.
- Do not take with milk
- dairy products
- antacids
- or iron
- containing preparations — they impair absorption.
- Use with caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment.
- May cause photosensitivity — avoid prolonged sun exposure and use sunscreen.
- May interact with oral anticoagulants
- penicillins
- and oral contraceptives.
- Keep out of reach of children.
