Indication

Zyrtec Allergy Oral Solution (Cetirizine 1 mg/mL) is a second-generation antihistamine used to relieve symptoms of allergic rhinitis (hay fever), perennial allergic rhinitis, and chronic urticaria (hives) including itching, sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes.

Ingredients

• Cetirizine hydrochloride 1 mg/mL

Direction

Adults and children over 12 years: 10 mL (10 mg) once daily. Children 6–12 years: 5 mL (5 mg) twice daily or 10 mL (10 mg) once daily. Children 2–6 years: 2.5 mL (2.5 mg) twice daily. Children 1–2 years: 2.5 mL once daily (under medical supervision). May be taken with or without food.

Side effects

• Drowsiness
• somnolence (less common than older antihistamines).
• Dry mouth
• headache.
• Fatigue
• dizziness.
• Nausea
• abdominal pain (uncommon).

Precautions

• May cause drowsiness — use caution when driving or operating machinery.
• Avoid alcohol.
• Use with caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment
• dose adjustment may be needed.
• Not recommended in the first trimester of pregnancy.
• Keep out of reach of children.
