Indication
Mucilin Orange (Psyllium husk 5 g per sachet) is a bulk-forming laxative used to treat constipation, to regulate bowel movements, and as adjunct therapy in the management of high cholesterol and irritable bowel syndrome.
Ingredients
- Psyllium husk 95% (Ispaghula husk)
- 5 g per sachet
Direction
Adults and children over 12 years: 1 sachet dissolved in a full glass (200–250 mL) of water or juice, 1–3 times daily before meals. Stir well and drink immediately. Follow with an additional glass of water.
Side effects
- Bloating
- flatulence
- abdominal distension (usually transient).
- Oesophageal or intestinal obstruction if taken without adequate fluid.
- Allergic reactions to psyllium (rare but can be severe).
Precautions
- Always take with an adequate amount of water — risk of oesophageal or intestinal obstruction if taken with insufficient fluid.
- Do not use in patients with swallowing difficulties

- Separate from other oral medications by at least 1–2 hours.
- May reduce absorption of minerals and some drugs.
- Keep out of reach of children.
