Cefon 1000 Injection 1000mg

Indication

Cefon 1000 Injection (Ceftriaxone 1 g) is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used for serious bacterial infections including septicaemia, meningitis, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, intra-abdominal infections, gonorrhoea, and surgical prophylaxis.

Ingredients

• Ceftriaxone sodium 1000 mg (1 g) per vial

Direction

For intravenous or intramuscular administration by trained healthcare personnel only. Adults: 1–2 g once daily (IV or IM). Severe infections: up to 4 g daily. Children: 50–100 mg/kg/day. For meningitis: up to 100 mg/kg/day. Duration as prescribed by a physician.

Side effects

• Injection site pain or phlebitis.
• Diarrhoea
• nausea.
• Rash
• urticaria.
• Eosinophilia
• leucopenia.
• Biliary sludge/gallstones with prolonged use.
• Pseudomembranous colitis (rare).

Precautions

• Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to cephalosporins or penicillins.
• Do not mix with calcium
• containing IV solutions in neonates (risk of fatal precipitation).
• Use with caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment.
• May cause biliary sludge/cholelithiasis with prolonged use.
• Monitor for Clostridium difficile
• associated diarrhoea.
• For parenteral administration by healthcare professionals only.
• Keep out of reach of children.
