Indication

Giloba 40 mg (Ginkgo biloba extract) is a herbal medicine traditionally used to improve peripheral and cerebral blood circulation, and to relieve symptoms associated with cognitive decline, memory impairment, and peripheral vascular disease (e.g. tinnitus, dizziness, claudication).

Ingredients

• Ginkgo biloba leaf extract 40 mg (standardised extract)

Direction

Adults: 1 tablet 3 times daily with meals, or as directed by a physician. Do not chew — swallow whole with water.

Side effects

• Gastrointestinal disturbances (nausea
• vomiting
• diarrhoea).
• Headache
• dizziness.
• Increased risk of bleeding (antiplatelet effect).
• Hypersensitivity reactions (rare).

Precautions

• Discontinue at least 36 hours before elective surgery due to antiplatelet effects.
• Avoid concurrent use with warfarin
• aspirin
• NSAIDs
• or other anticoagulants/antiplatelet agents.
• Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Ginkgo biloba.
• Use with caution in patients at risk of bleeding.
• May interact with antidepressants (SSRIs) and anticonvulsants.
• Keep out of reach of children.
