Indication

Marvelon 28 (Desogestrel 0.15 mg + Ethinylestradiol 0.03 mg) is a combined oral contraceptive (COC) pill used to prevent pregnancy. It works by inhibiting ovulation, altering cervical mucus, and changing the endometrium.

Ingredients

• Desogestrel 0.15 mg
• Ethinylestradiol 0.03 mg

Direction

Take 1 tablet daily for 28 consecutive days at the same time each day, following the order shown on the blister (21 active tablets + 7 inert tablets or 7-day pill-free interval depending on pack format). Start on day 1 of menstrual cycle. Take with water.

Side effects

• Nausea
• headache
• breast tenderness.
• Mood changes
• decreased libido.
• Breakthrough bleeding or spotting (especially in first few cycles).
• Weight changes.
• Increased risk of venous thromboembolism (rare but serious).
• Hypertension.

Precautions

• Contraindicated in patients with a history of thromboembolic disorders
• stroke
• or ischaemic heart disease.
• Contraindicated in patients with known or suspected breast cancer or oestrogen
• dependent cancer.
• Contraindicated in patients with severe hepatic impairment.
• Contraindicated in patients who smoke and are over 35 years of age.
• Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding in early postpartum period.
• May increase risk of hypertension
• deep vein thrombosis
• and pulmonary embolism.
• Keep out of reach of children.
