Olavir 75mg

Indication

Olavir 75 mg (Oseltamivir) is an antiviral medicine used for the treatment and prevention of influenza (flu) caused by influenza A and B viruses. It reduces the duration and severity of flu symptoms and lowers the risk of complications.

Ingredients

• Oseltamivir phosphate 75 mg

Direction

Treatment (adults and children over 13 years): 75 mg twice daily for 5 days. Prevention (post-exposure prophylaxis): 75 mg once daily for 10 days. Take with or without food (taking with food reduces nausea).

Side effects

• Nausea
• vomiting (most common — reduced by taking with food).
• Headache.
• Abdominal pain.
• Neuropsychiatric events (confusion
• self
• injury) — rare
• mainly in children.

Precautions

• Not a substitute for annual influenza vaccination.
• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment — dose reduction required.
• Rare neuropsychiatric events reported (mainly in children and adolescents) — monitor closely.
• Should be started within 48 hours of onset of symptoms for treatment.
• Keep out of reach of children.
