Indication
Olavir 75 mg (Oseltamivir) is an antiviral medicine used for the treatment and prevention of influenza (flu) caused by influenza A and B viruses. It reduces the duration and severity of flu symptoms and lowers the risk of complications.
Ingredients
- Oseltamivir phosphate 75 mg
Direction
Treatment (adults and children over 13 years): 75 mg twice daily for 5 days. Prevention (post-exposure prophylaxis): 75 mg once daily for 10 days. Take with or without food (taking with food reduces nausea).
Side effects
- Nausea
- vomiting (most common — reduced by taking with food).
- Headache.
- Abdominal pain.
- Neuropsychiatric events (confusion
- self
- injury) — rare
- mainly in children.
Precautions
- Not a substitute for annual influenza vaccination.
- Use with caution in patients with renal impairment — dose reduction required.
- Rare neuropsychiatric events reported (mainly in children and adolescents) — monitor closely.
- Should be started within 48 hours of onset of symptoms for treatment.
- Keep out of reach of children.
