Indication
Tren (Mefenamic Acid 250 mg) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used for relief of mild to moderate pain including headache, dental pain, dysmenorrhoea (period pain), and musculoskeletal pain.
Ingredients
- Mefenamic Acid 250 mg
Direction
Adults and children over 14 years: 500 mg (2 capsules) initially, then 250 mg every 6 hours as required, with food or milk. Do not use for more than 7 days.
Side effects
- Gastrointestinal upset: nausea
- vomiting
- diarrhoea
- abdominal pain.
- Peptic ulceration and gastrointestinal bleeding (rare).
- Dizziness
- drowsiness
- or headache.
- Skin rash or urticaria.
- Rare: haemolytic anaemia with prolonged use.
Precautions
- Contraindicated in patients with peptic ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding.
- Contraindicated in renal or hepatic impairment.
- Avoid in patients with known hypersensitivity to NSAIDs or aspirin.
- Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease.
- Not recommended during pregnancy
- especially in the third trimester.
- Avoid concurrent use with other NSAIDs
- anticoagulants
- or corticosteroids.
