Indication

ROPERAN 10 mg (Domperidone) is a dopamine antagonist used as an antiemetic and prokinetic agent. It is indicated for the relief of nausea and vomiting, and for the symptomatic treatment of gastric motility disorders including bloating and delayed gastric emptying.

Ingredients

• Domperidone 10 mg

Direction

Adults: 10 mg up to three times daily, taken 15–30 minutes before meals. Maximum dose: 30 mg per day. Do not exceed 10 days of continuous treatment.

Side effects

• Dry mouth
• headache.
• Raised prolactin levels: galactorrhoea
• gynaecomastia
• menstrual irregularities.
• Rare: extrapyramidal effects (more common in children).
• Rare: serious cardiac arrhythmias including QT prolongation.

Precautions

• Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment — dose reduction required.
• Contraindicated in prolactinoma or other prolactin
• releasing tumours.
• Risk of cardiac arrhythmia (QT prolongation)
• avoid in patients with cardiac disease or on QT
• prolonging drugs.
• Not recommended for patients with gastrointestinal bleeding
• perforation
• or obstruction.
• Avoid concurrent use with ketoconazole or other potent CYP3A4 inhibitors.
• Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration.
