Sinex Forte Suspension Paracetamol 125mg/5ml + Phenylephrine HCl 2.5mg/5ml + Chlorpheniramine Maleate 1mg/5ml

Indication

Sinex Forte Suspension is a combination paediatric preparation used for symptomatic relief of cold and flu symptoms including fever, nasal congestion, and runny nose or sneezing.

Ingredients

• Paracetamol 125 mg per 5 ml
• Phenylephrine Hydrochloride 2.5 mg per 5 ml
• Chlorpheniramine Maleate 1 mg per 5 ml

Direction

Children 2–6 years: 5–10 ml every 6–8 hours as needed. Children 6–12 years: 10–15 ml every 6–8 hours as needed. Do not exceed 4 doses in 24 hours. Shake well before use. Use the measuring device provided.

Side effects

• Drowsiness
• sedation (from chlorpheniramine).
• Dry mouth
• dizziness.
• Nausea or upset stomach.
• Raised blood pressure or heart rate with higher doses of phenylephrine.
• Rare: allergic reactions to paracetamol.

Precautions

• Do not exceed the recommended dose — paracetamol overdose can cause serious liver damage.
• Do not use with other products containing paracetamol
• decongestants
• or antihistamines.
• Avoid in children under 2 years without medical advice.
• Use with caution in children with heart disease
• hypertension
• thyroid disorders
• or diabetes (due to phenylephrine).
• Chlorpheniramine may cause drowsiness — avoid activities requiring alertness.
• Contraindicated with MAO inhibitors.
