Ascoril 100ml

Indication

Ascoril Syrup (by Glenmark) is a combination bronchodilator and expectorant syrup used for the symptomatic relief of productive cough associated with bronchospasm, bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, and other reversible obstructive airway diseases.

Ingredients

• Salbutamol 2 mg per 5 ml
• Guaifenesin 100 mg per 5 ml
• Bromhexine HCl 4 mg per 5 ml

Direction

Adults: 10 ml three times daily. Children 6–12 years: 5 ml three times daily. Children 2–6 years: 2.5 ml three times daily. Shake well before use. Take as directed by a physician.

Side effects

• Tremor
• nervousness
• palpitations
• tachycardia (salbutamol effect).
• Nausea
• vomiting
• gastric upset.
• Headache
• dizziness.
• Rare: hypokalaemia with high doses of salbutamol.

Precautions

• Use with caution in patients with hypertension
• hyperthyroidism
• cardiac arrhythmias
• or diabetes (due to salbutamol).
• Avoid concurrent use with other sympathomimetics or MAO inhibitors.
• May cause tremor
• palpitations
• or tachycardia.
• Not recommended in children under 2 years without medical advice.
• Consult a doctor if symptoms worsen or do not improve within a few days.
