Clobate Ointment 15g 0.05%

Indication

Clobate Ointment (Clobetasol Propionate 0.05%) is a potent topical corticosteroid used for the short-term treatment of severe, resistant inflammatory skin conditions such as psoriasis, severe eczema/dermatitis, and lichen planus that have not responded to less potent steroids.

Ingredients

• Clobetasol Propionate 0.05%

Direction

Adults: Apply a thin layer to the affected area once or twice daily. Do not use for more than 4 consecutive weeks. Do not use more than 50 g per week. Avoid occlusive dressings unless directed by a physician.

Side effects

• Local: skin atrophy
• striae
• burning
• dryness
• folliculitis.
• Perioral dermatitis
• acne
• or rosacea with facial use.
• Systemic adrenal suppression with prolonged or excessive use.
• Rare: Cushing syndrome with overuse.

Precautions

• For external use only. Do not use on the face
• groin
• or axillae without medical advice.
• Not for use in children under 1 year
• use with extreme caution in children — restrict to 5 days.
• Do not use on infected skin without concurrent antimicrobial therapy.
• Prolonged use causes skin atrophy
• striae
• telangiectasia
• and adrenal suppression.
• Do not use on viral (e.g. herpes)
• fungal
• or tuberculosis skin infections.
• Avoid occlusive dressings — significantly increases systemic absorption.
• Use the lowest amount for the shortest time.
