Indication

Oxymetazoline HCl 0.05% nasal spray is a sympathomimetic decongestant used for the temporary relief of nasal congestion associated with the common cold, hay fever, sinusitis, and other upper respiratory allergies. The extra moisturising formulation helps soothe and hydrate nasal passages.

Ingredients

• Oxymetazoline hydrochloride 0.05% (0.5 mg/mL)
• 15 mL nasal pump spray

Direction

Adults and children 6 years and over: 2–3 sprays into each nostril twice daily (morning and evening). Do not use for more than 3 consecutive days. Do not exceed 2 doses in 24 hours.

Side effects

Precautions

• Do not use for more than 3 consecutive days — risk of rebound congestion (rhinitis medicamentosa).
• Do not use in children under 6 years.
• Use with caution in patients with hypertension
• diabetes
• thyroid disease
• or cardiovascular disease.
• Do not use if taking MAO inhibitors or tricyclic antidepressants.
• Avoid sharing the spray bottle to prevent infection spread.
• Keep out of reach of children.
