Oplofloxacin Hydrochloride 3mg

Indication

Ofloxacin hydrochloride eye/ear drops are used to treat bacterial infections of the eye (conjunctivitis, corneal ulcers) or ear (otitis externa, otitis media with perforated tympanic membrane) caused by susceptible organisms.

Ingredients

• Ofloxacin 3 mg/ml

Direction

Eye infections (adults and children over 1 year): Instil 1–2 drops into the affected eye(s) every 2–4 hours for the first 2 days, then 4 times daily for up to 10 days. Ear infections: Instil 5–10 drops into the affected ear(s) twice daily for 10 days. Use only as directed by a physician.

Side effects

• Transient ocular burning or stinging upon instillation.
• Eye redness or irritation.
• Eye pain or discomfort.
• Blurred vision (transient).
• Bitter taste (via nasolacrimal duct drainage).
• Rarely: allergic reactions
• photophobia.

Precautions

• Do not use if hypersensitive to ofloxacin or other quinolone antibiotics.
• Not for injection or oral use
• for topical ophthalmic/otic use only.
• Avoid wearing contact lenses during treatment.
• Discontinue if severe hypersensitivity or allergic reaction occurs.
• Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non
• susceptible organisms.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Consult a doctor if symptoms do not improve within 2 days.
