Supirocin Ointment 5g Mupirocin 2%, 5g tube

Indication

Supirocin (Mupirocin) ointment is a topical antibiotic used to treat primary skin infections such as impetigo and folliculitis, and secondary infections of small wounds, minor cuts, and abrasions caused by susceptible bacteria including Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes.

Ingredients

• Mupirocin 2% w/w (20 mg/g)

Direction

Apply a small amount of ointment to the affected area 3 times daily. Cover with a dressing if necessary. Treatment should not exceed 10 days. Wash hands before and after application.

Side effects

• Burning or stinging sensation at application site.
• Itching or rash.
• Contact dermatitis — rare.
• Erythema (redness) at the site of application.

Precautions

• For external use only
• avoid contact with eyes
• nose
• and mouth.
• Do not use if hypersensitive to mupirocin or polyethylene glycol.
• Not suitable for use on large areas of skin or deep wounds.
• Avoid use on mucous membranes.
• Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non
• susceptible organisms.
• Discontinue if sensitisation or severe irritation occurs.
• Keep out of reach of children.
