Ascoril Expectorant 100ml

Indication

Ascoril Expectorant is a combination respiratory medicine containing a bronchodilator (salbutamol), an expectorant (guaifenesin), and a mucolytic (bromhexine). It is used for symptomatic relief of productive cough associated with bronchospasm, bronchitis, asthma, and other obstructive airway conditions where mucus clearance is needed.

Ingredients

• Salbutamol sulfate 2 mg/5 mL
• Guaifenesin 100 mg/5 mL
• Bromhexine hydrochloride 4 mg/5 mL

Direction

Adults and children over 12 years: 10 mL three times daily. Children 6–12 years: 5 mL three times daily. Children 2–6 years: 2.5 mL three times daily. Shake well before use. Do not exceed stated doses. Use under medical supervision.

Side effects

• Tremor and palpitations (due to salbutamol).
• Headache.
• Nausea and vomiting.
• Tachycardia.
• Nervousness or restlessness.
• Hypokalaemia at high doses.

Precautions

• Use with caution in patients with hypertension
• cardiac arrhythmias
• hyperthyroidism
• or diabetes mellitus (due to salbutamol component).
• Avoid concurrent use with other beta
• agonists or theophylline without medical advice.
• Not recommended in patients with severe hepatic impairment.
• Salbutamol may cause hypokalaemia at high doses
