Indication

Codalgin is a combination analgesic containing paracetamol and codeine used for the relief of moderate pain that does not respond to paracetamol or NSAIDs alone. Codeine provides additional opioid analgesic action.

Ingredients

• Paracetamol 500 mg
• Codeine phosphate 10 mg

Direction

Adults: 1–2 tablets every 4–6 hours as needed. Maximum 8 tablets per day. Do not use longer than 3 days without medical advice. Swallow with water.

• Drowsiness

• Rare: respiratory depression (with high doses)
• dependence.

Precautions

• Contains codeine — risk of dependence and abuse.
• Codeine converts to morphine
• ultra
• rapid metabolisers are at risk of opioid toxicity.
• Do not exceed recommended paracetamol dose
• avoid other paracetamol
• containing products.
• Not for use in children under 12 years.
• Not for use in children who have had tonsillectomy or adenoidectomy.
• Avoid alcohol and CNS depressants.
• Keep out of reach of children.
