Indication
Onvin 8 (Ondansetron) is a selective serotonin 5-HT3 receptor antagonist used for the prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and post-operative procedures.
Ingredients
- Ondansetron 8 mg
Direction
Adults: 8 mg given orally 1–2 hours before chemotherapy or surgery, followed by 8 mg after 8 hours, then 8 mg every 12 hours for 1–2 days. Post-operative nausea: 16 mg orally 1 hour before surgery. Dose as directed by physician.
Side effects
- Headache
- constipation.
- Flushing
- dizziness.
- Rare: QT prolongation
- hypersensitivity reactions.
Precautions
- Use with caution in patients with known QT prolongation or electrolyte abnormalities.
- Avoid concomitant use with other QT
- prolonging drugs.
- Use with caution in patients with severe hepatic impairment.
- Keep out of reach of children.
