Indication

Neo Codion is a combination cough suppressant used to relieve dry, non-productive cough. Codeine suppresses the cough reflex centrally, ephedrine acts as a bronchodilator, and terpine hydrate acts as an expectorant to loosen mucus.

Ingredients

• Codeine phosphate 10 mg
• Ephedrine hydrochloride 12 mg
• Terpine hydrate 100 mg

Direction

Adults: 1–2 teaspoons (5–10 ml) 3 times daily. Children 6–12 years: 1 teaspoon (5 ml) 3 times daily. Not recommended for children under 6 years.

• increased heart rate (due to ephedrine)
• Dry mouth
• Dependence or tolerance with prolonged use of codeine

Precautions

• Contains codeine — do not use in children under 6 years or in patients who are known ultra
• rapid metabolizers of codeine.
• Avoid concurrent use with alcohol
• sedatives
• or CNS depressants.
• Use with caution in patients with asthma
• chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
• or respiratory depression.
• Use with caution in patients with hypertension
• hyperthyroidism
• or cardiovascular disease due to ephedrine content.
• Avoid use in pregnant or breastfeeding women unless directed by a physician.
• May cause drowsiness — do not drive or operate machinery.
• Not for productive (wet) cough.
