Indication

Phosphalugel is an antacid used to relieve symptoms of gastritis, gastroesophageal reflux (heartburn), and peptic ulcer disease. It neutralizes stomach acid and has a mucosal protective coating effect.

Ingredients

• Aluminium phosphate 20% gel (equivalent to 400 mg per sachet)

Direction

Adults: 1–2 sachets (20–40 g) taken 2–3 times daily, preferably after meals and at bedtime. Mix with water or take directly. For acute symptoms, take immediately when discomfort occurs.

Side effects

• Constipation (with prolonged use)
• Nausea (rare)

Precautions

• Long
• term use should be under medical supervision.
• Use with caution in patients with phosphate depletion or hypophosphataemia.
• May cause constipation with prolonged use.
• Separate administration from other medications by at least 2 hours as it may reduce absorption.
• Use with caution in patients with kidney impairment.
• Keep out of reach of children.
