Indication
- Severe allergic reactions - Inflammatory conditions - Autoimmune diseases - Cerebral edema - Management of certain cancers - Adrenal insufficiency replacement therapy
Ingredients
- Dexamethasone
Direction
Take orally with food or milk to prevent stomach upset. Usually taken once daily or in divided doses as prescribed by a physician.
Side effects
- Increased appetite and weight gain
- Fluid retention (edema)
- Mood changes or insomnia
- Muscle weakness
- Elevated blood pressure
- Stomach irritation
Precautions
- Do not stop therapy abruptly
- May mask symptoms of infection
- Can increase blood glucose levels
- Monitor for signs of peptic ulcers
- Use caution in hypertensive patients
