Indication
- Urinary tract infections - Bronchitis and respiratory infections - Middle ear infections (otitis media) - Traveler's diarrhea - Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia prevention/treatment
Ingredients
- Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim
Direction
Take orally with a full glass of water. Usually administered twice daily for 5 to 14 days depending on the infection.
Side effects
- Nausea and vomiting
- Loss of appetite
- Skin rash or itching
- Sensitivity to sunlight
- Diarrhea
Precautions
- Contraindicated in patients with sulfa allergy
- Maintain high fluid intake
- Use caution in kidney or liver disease
- Avoid in infants under 2 months old
- Potential for serious skin reactions
