Indication
Treatment of chronic constipation. Treatment of hepatic encephalopathy (portal systemic encephalopathy).
Ingredients
- Lactulose 667mg/ml
Direction
Constipation - Adults: 15-45ml daily, adjust to 15-30ml maintenance. Children 7-14: 15ml daily. Children 1-6: 5-10ml daily. Infants: up to 5ml daily. Take with water or juice.
Side effects
- Flatulence
- abdominal cramps
- nausea
- diarrhea (with high doses). Generally resolves after first few days.
Precautions
- Contraindicated in galactosemia and intestinal obstruction. Use with caution in diabetics (contains small amounts of sugars). Monitor electrolytes during prolonged use.
