Indication
Treatment and suppression of herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections including genital herpes, herpes labialis; varicella (chickenpox); herpes zoster (shingles)
Ingredients
- Acyclovir 200mg
Direction
HSV treatment: 200mg 5 times daily at 4-hour intervals for 5-10 days. Suppression: 200mg 4 times daily or 400mg twice daily. Varicella: 800mg 4 times daily for 5 days. Take with plenty of water.
Side effects
- Nausea
- vomiting
- diarrhea
- abdominal pain
- headache
- dizziness
- skin rash
- fatigue
Precautions
- Maintain adequate hydration to prevent crystalluria. Dose adjustment required in renal impairment. Use with caution in elderly and dehydrated patients.
