Indication
Treatment of herpes simplex virus infections of the skin and mucous membranes: cold sores (herpes labialis), genital herpes (initial and recurrent episodes)
Ingredients
- Acyclovir 5%
Direction
Apply 5 times daily at approximately 4-hour intervals (omitting night-time application). Start as early as possible after onset of symptoms. Continue for 5-10 days.
Side effects
- Transient burning
- stinging
- or itching at application site. Mild drying or flaking of skin. Rare: allergic contact dermatitis.
Precautions
- For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Not a cure for herpes
- does not prevent transmission. Start treatment as soon as symptoms appear.
