Indication

Chronic gout; hyperuricemia associated with kidney stones; prevention of uric acid and calcium oxalate calculi; management of hyperuricemia from cancer chemotherapy

Ingredients

• Allopurinol 300mg

Direction

Adults: Usual maintenance dose 300mg once daily after food. For severe conditions: up to 600-800mg daily in divided doses. Take after meals with plenty of water.

Side effects

• Skin rash (discontinue immediately if occurs)
• nausea
• vomiting
• diarrhea
• headache
• drowsiness
• altered liver function
• rare: Stevens
• Johnson syndrome

Precautions

• Discontinue immediately at first sign of skin rash. Dose adjustment in renal impairment. Maintain adequate fluid intake. May trigger acute gout attacks initially.
