Indication
Treatment of chronic hyperuricemia in patients with gout. Reduces uric acid levels to prevent gout flares and tophi formation.
Ingredients
- Febuxostat 40mg
Direction
Take 1 tablet (40mg) once daily with or without food. May be increased to 80mg daily if uric acid levels remain above target. As directed by physician.
Side effects
- Liver function abnormalities
- nausea
- joint pain
- rash
- dizziness. Gout flares may occur initially upon starting treatment.
Precautions
- Not recommended for asymptomatic hyperuricemia. Monitor liver function. Increased cardiovascular risk reported
- use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease. Not for patients on azathioprine or mercaptopurine.
