Indication

Treatment of acute diarrhoea in adults and children above 2 years (in addition to oral rehydration). Symptomatic treatment of chronic functional diarrhoea in adults. Symptomatic treatment of pain associated with functional bowel diseases in adults.

Precautions

• Do not use if hypersensitive to diosmectite or any excipient.
• Do not use as sole treatment for acute diarrhoea with fever or blood in stools without medical advice.
• Maintain adequate fluid and electrolyte intake during diarrhoea to prevent dehydration.
• If other medicines are being taken
• administer Smecta at least 1–2 hours apart as it may reduce absorption.
• Use in infants and young children must be under medical supervision.
• Contains sucrose — use with caution in patients with rare hereditary fructose intolerance

• isomaltase deficiency.
• Consult a doctor if diarrhoea lasts more than 2 days or is accompanied by high fever.
