Precautions

• Bromazepam is a benzodiazepine and is subject to abuse
• dependence
• and withdrawal
• prescribe at the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration.
• Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to benzodiazepines.
• Contraindicated in patients with acute narrow
• angle glaucoma.
• Contraindicated in patients with severe hepatic impairment.
• Contraindicated in patients with myasthenia gravis.
• Contraindicated in patients with severe respiratory insufficiency or sleep apnoea syndrome.
• Avoid concurrent use with alcohol
• opioids
• or other CNS depressants — risk of severe respiratory depression and death.
• Causes drowsiness and impaired coordination
• patients should not drive or operate machinery until effects are known.
• Use with caution in the elderly (increased risk of falls and cognitive impairment)
• lower doses are recommended.
• Use with caution in patients with a history of substance abuse or dependence.
• Abrupt discontinuation after prolonged use may cause withdrawal symptoms (anxiety
• insomnia
• seizures)
• taper dose gradually.
• Not recommended during pregnancy
• especially in the first trimester and near term
• or during breastfeeding.
• Keep out of reach of children.
