Indication
Treatment of severe recalcitrant nodular acne (cystic acne) that has not responded to conventional therapy including antibiotics.
Ingredients
- Isotretinoin 10 mg
Direction
As directed by a physician. Usually taken once or twice daily with food. Swallow capsule whole. Do not crush or chew.
Side effects
- Dry skin
- lips
- and mucous membranes
- Elevated liver enzymes
- Elevated blood lipids
- Night blindness
- Severe birth defects if taken during pregnancy
- Depression and mood changes
- Photosensitivity
Precautions
- STRICTLY CONTRAINDICATED during pregnancy — causes severe birth defects
- Women of childbearing potential must use effective contraception during and for 1 month after treatment
- Prescription only medicine — requires medical supervision
- Regular liver function and blood lipid monitoring required
- Do not donate blood during treatment and for 1 month after
- Avoid prolonged sun exposure
- Keep out of reach of children
