Indication

Antibiotic for bacterial infections

Ingredients

• Amoxicillin 250mg

Direction

Oral use only. Shake well before use. Adults and children over 40 kg: 500 mg every 8 hours, or as directed by a physician. Children (weight-based): 25 mg/kg/day in 3 divided doses (every 8 hours). With 250 mg/5 ml suspension: 20 kg child → 10 ml every 8 hours. Complete the full course even if symptoms improve. Take with or without food.

Side effects

• Diarrhoea
• nausea
• and vomiting (common).
• Skin rash (may indicate allergic reaction).
• Urticaria and
• rarely
• serious skin reactions (Stevens
• Johnson syndrome).
• Anaphylaxis (rare but potentially fatal).
• Candidiasis (oral or vaginal overgrowth with prolonged use).

Precautions

• Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to amoxicillin
• penicillins
• or any excipient.
• Use with caution in patients with a history of allergic reactions to cephalosporins (cross
• reactivity possible).
• Serious and occasionally fatal hypersensitivity reactions have been reported
• discontinue immediately if allergic reaction occurs.
• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment
• dose adjustment may be required.
• Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non
• susceptible organisms
• including Candida.
• Keep out of reach of children.
