Indication

- Treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers when oral therapy is not appropriate - Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - Zollinger-Ellison syndrome - Prevention and treatment of acid-related upper GI bleeding

Ingredients

• Omeprazole 40 mg

Direction

Administered by a healthcare professional as a slow intravenous injection or infusion; usual dose 40 mg once daily, reconstituted as directed. Switch to oral therapy when feasible.

Side effects

• Headache
• Nausea
• diarrhea or constipation
• Abdominal pain
• Injection site reactions
• Rarely
• low magnesium with prolonged use

Precautions

• Exclude gastric malignancy before treatment
• as symptoms may be masked
• Long
• term use may reduce magnesium and vitamin B12 levels and affect bone
• Use with caution in severe hepatic impairment
• May interact with clopidogrel and other CYP2C19
• dependent drugs
