Indication
Aspirine EPHAC 500 mg gastro-resistant tablets are indicated for the symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate pain and/or feverish states, and for rheumatic conditions in adults.
Ingredients
- Acetylsalicylic acid 500 mg
Direction
Oral use. Swallow tablets whole with a large glass of water. Adults: 1-2 tablets, may be repeated after 4 hours if necessary, not exceeding 6 tablets per day. Elderly: 1 tablet, may be repeated after 4 hours if necessary, not exceeding 4 tablets per day. Rheumatic conditions: 2 tablets every 6 hours. Do not administer to children without medical advice.
Side effects
- Gastrointestinal upset including nausea
- vomiting
- abdominal pain
- Gastrointestinal bleeding or ulceration (risk increases with dose and duration)
- Prolonged bleeding time and increased risk of bruising
- Tinnitus and hearing disturbances at high doses
- Hypersensitivity reactions including bronchospasm
- urticaria
- angioedema
- Rarely
- hepatic or renal impairment
Precautions
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to salicylates or other NSAIDs
- Contraindicated in active peptic ulcer
- haemorrhagic disorders
- and severe hepatic or renal failure
- Contraindicated in children under 16 years with viral illness (risk of Reye's syndrome)
- Avoid in the third trimester of pregnancy
- use with caution in first and second trimesters and during breastfeeding
- Use with caution in patients with asthma
- uncontrolled hypertension
- gout
- or on anticoagulants
- Avoid alcohol during treatment
- Consult a doctor if symptoms persist for more than a few days
