Indication
Avamys Nasal Spray is indicated for the treatment of the symptoms of allergic rhinitis (seasonal and perennial) in adults, adolescents and children aged 2 years and older. Symptoms include nasal congestion, rhinorrhoea, sneezing, nasal itching, and associated ocular symptoms such as itchy, watery or red eyes.
Ingredients
- Fluticasone furoate 27.5 mcg per actuation
Direction
For nasal use only. Shake the bottle gently before each use. Adults and adolescents (12 years and older): the recommended starting dose is 2 sprays in each nostril once daily (total daily dose 110 mcg); once symptoms are controlled, dose reduction to 1 spray in each nostril once daily may be effective. Children 6-11 years: 1 spray in each nostril once daily; may be increased to 2 sprays in each nostril once daily if needed, then reduced when controlled. Children 2-5 years: 1 spray in each nostril once daily. Use regularly for full benefit; maximum effect may take several days.
Side effects
- Epistaxis (nosebleeds)
- Headache
- Nasal ulceration
- Nasopharyngitis
- Back pain
- Pyrexia in children
- Rarely
- hypersensitivity reactions including anaphylaxis
- angioedema
- rash and urticaria
- Rarely
- ocular effects such as glaucoma or cataracts with prolonged high
- dose use
Precautions
- Controlled medicine
- it is dangerous to exceed the stated dose
- Use with caution in patients with severe hepatic impairment
- Monitor children on long
- term treatment for growth and systemic corticosteroid effects
- Avoid use in patients with recent nasal surgery
- nasal trauma
- or nasal ulcers until healed
- Use with caution during pregnancy and breastfeeding
- consult a physician
- Concurrent use with potent CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g. ritonavir
- ketoconazole) is not recommended
- Do not refrigerate or freeze
- Discard any unused spray after the labelled use
- by period
- Keep out of reach of children
