Indication
Non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (type 2) in adults, when dietary measures, physical exercise, and weight loss alone are not sufficient to control blood glucose.
Ingredients
- Gliclazide 60mg
Direction
Oral use. Scored tablet allows flexible dosing (30mg, 60mg, 90mg, 120mg). Initial dose: 30mg (half tablet) once daily with breakfast. Adjust up to a maximum of 120mg per day.
Side effects
- Hypoglycaemia
- Gastrointestinal disturbances (nausea
- dyspepsia
- diarrhoea
- constipation)
- Skin reactions (rash
- pruritus
- urticaria)
- Haematological disorders (rare)
- Increased liver enzymes (rare)
Precautions
- Risk of hypoglycaemia
- take with breakfast
- Contraindicated in type 1 diabetes
- severe renal or hepatic impairment
- Avoid in pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Monitor blood glucose regularly
