Indication
Treatment of fungal (dermatophyte) infections of the skin, hair and nails.
Ingredients
- Griseofulvin
Direction
Oral route. Use as directed by physician.
Side effects
- Nausea
- vomiting
- or diarrhoea.
- Headache.
- Skin rash or urticaria.
- Photosensitivity reactions.
- Confusion or impaired coordination (with high doses).
- Hepatotoxicity (rare).
- Leucopenia (rare).
Precautions
- Contraindicated in patients with porphyria.
- Contraindicated in patients with severe hepatic impairment.
- Not recommended during pregnancy
- teratogenic in animals.
- Use effective contraception during and for at least 1 month after treatment in women of childbearing potential.
- May interact with oral contraceptives (reduced efficacy)
- use alternative or additional contraceptive methods.
- May interact with warfarin and other anticoagulants
- monitor INR.
- May decrease the efficacy of ciclosporin.
- May cause photosensitivity
- avoid prolonged sun exposure.
- Monitor liver function periodically during prolonged use.
- Avoid alcohol during treatment.
