Axprazol 0.5 0.5mg

Indication

Used for the short-term management of anxiety disorders, panic disorder (with or without agoraphobia), and anxiety associated with depression. Also used for short-term relief of symptoms of anxiety.

Direction

Adults: Usual dose for anxiety is 0.25–0.5 mg three times daily. For panic disorder: 0.5–1 mg three times daily. Doses should be individualized. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration. Do not stop abruptly — taper gradually under medical supervision.

Side effects

• Very common: sedation
• drowsiness
• fatigue
• memory impairment.
• Common: depression
• headache
• confusion
• dizziness
• impaired coordination
• slurred speech.
• Common: hypotension
• dry mouth
• constipation
• nausea.
• Uncommon: paradoxical reactions (agitation
• aggression
• irritability).
• With prolonged use: dependence and withdrawal syndrome upon discontinuation.

• Strictly controlled substance — use only under medical prescription and supervision.

• Do not use if allergic to alprazolam or other benzodiazepines.
• Contraindicated in acute narrow
• angle glaucoma.
• Do not combine with alcohol

• Impairs ability to drive or operate machinery.
• Contraindicated in pregnancy (risk of neonatal withdrawal and floppy infant syndrome) and breastfeeding.
• Use with extreme caution in the elderly and those with hepatic impairment.
• Keep out of reach of children.
