Advant 8 mg

Indication

Used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and heart failure (as adjunct therapy). Candesartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that reduces vasoconstriction and lowers blood pressure.

Ingredients

• Candesartan Cilexetil

Direction

Adults (hypertension): Starting dose 4 mg (or 8 mg) once daily. Usual maintenance dose 8–32 mg once daily. For heart failure: starting dose 4 mg once daily; target 32 mg. Take with or without food.

Side effects

• Common: dizziness
• headache
• upper respiratory tract infection.
• Common: hyperkalaemia.
• Uncommon: renal impairment
• hypotension.
• Rare: angioedema — seek immediate medical attention.
• Very rare: neutropenia
• agranulocytosis.

Precautions

• Contraindicated in pregnancy.
• Contraindicated in hypersensitivity to candesartan.
• Do not use with aliskiren in patients with diabetes or renal impairment.
• Monitor renal function
• electrolytes
• and blood pressure.
• Risk of hyperkalaemia — caution with potassium supplements or potassium
• sparing diuretics.
• Keep out of reach of children.
