Alatrol Syrup 5 mg / 5 ml

Indication

Used for the symptomatic relief of allergic rhinitis (seasonal and perennial hay fever), urticaria (hives), and other allergic conditions including pruritus (itching) and allergic conjunctivitis. Cetirizine is a second-generation antihistamine with low sedating properties.

Ingredients

• Cetirizine Hydrochloride

Direction

Adults and children 12 years and over: 10 mg (10 mL) once daily. Children 6–12 years: 5 mg (5 mL) twice daily, or 10 mg (10 mL) once daily. Children 2–6 years: 2.5 mg (2.5 mL) twice daily. Take with or without food. Measure carefully with the measuring device provided.

Side effects

• Common: somnolence (drowsiness)
• headache
• dry mouth
• fatigue.
• Common: dizziness
• agitation in children.
• Uncommon: diarrhoea
• nausea
• pruritus.
• Rare: urinary retention
• hepatitis.
• Very rare: severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis).

Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to cetirizine
• hydroxyzine
• or any component.
• May cause somnolence (drowsiness) — caution when driving or operating machinery.
• Alcohol and other CNS depressants may enhance sedative effects.
• Caution in patients with renal impairment — reduce dose.
• Not recommended for use in infants under 2 years.
• Keep out of reach of children.
