Indication
Angilock (Losartan Potassium 25 mg) is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure), diabetic nephropathy in type 2 diabetics with proteinuria, and to reduce the risk of stroke in hypertensive patients with left ventricular hypertrophy.
Ingredients

Direction
Adults: The usual starting dose for hypertension is 50 mg once daily; 25 mg may be used in patients with volume depletion or liver impairment. Dose may be increased to 100 mg once daily. Take with or without food at the same time each day.
Side effects
- Dizziness
- hypotension — common.
- Hyperkalaemia (elevated potassium) — uncommon.
- Renal impairment — uncommon.
- Diarrhoea
- nausea — uncommon.
- Angioedema — rare.
- Cough (less frequent than ACE inhibitors) — uncommon.
Precautions
- Contraindicated in pregnancy (ARBs cause fetal harm in second and third trimesters).
- Do not use if allergic to losartan or any component.
- Do not use concurrently with aliskiren in patients with diabetes or renal impairment.
- Monitor renal function
- serum potassium
- and blood pressure regularly.
- Use with caution in patients with renal artery stenosis
- severe renal impairment
- or liver impairment.
- Avoid potassium supplements or potassium
- sparing diuretics without medical advice.
- May cause first
- dose hypotension in volume
- depleted patients.
- Keep out of reach of children.
