CIPROF Eye/Ear Drops 0.3% / 5 ml

Indication

CIPROF eye/ear drops (ciprofloxacin 0.3%) are a fluoroquinolone antibiotic used topically for the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis and corneal ulcers (ophthalmic use), and for acute otitis externa and chronic suppurative otitis media (otic use), caused by susceptible organisms.

Direction

Ophthalmic — Bacterial conjunctivitis: 1–2 drops in the affected eye(s) every 2 hours while awake for 2 days, then every 4 hours for 5 days. Otic — Otitis externa: 3–4 drops instilled into affected ear twice daily for 7 days. Consult physician for duration of treatment.

Side effects

• Burning or discomfort on instillation.
• Eye: white crystalline precipitate (corneal deposits
• generally resolves).
• Ear: local irritation.
• Rare: hypersensitivity reactions.

Precautions

• Do not use if hypersensitive to ciprofloxacin or other fluoroquinolones.
• Do not inject or swallow.
• Do not wear contact lenses during treatment for bacterial conjunctivitis.
• Avoid touching dropper tip to eye
• ear
• or any surface.
• Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non
• susceptible organisms.
• Keep out of reach of children.
